The silver resin (equivalent to BIORESIN BW 05) is a special resin for water softeners. It prevents bacteria or other microbes from multiplying in the resin bed when the system is not in use for a prolonged period. The resin contains bound silver, which has a natural antibacterial effect without altering the taste or smell of the water. It is particularly useful for systems that only supply water occasionally or are left idle from time to time, as germs might otherwise accumulate.
How the silver resin works
The silver in the resin prevents bacteria from settling and multiplying in the resin bed. The resin can also be integrated into existing water softening systems and remains effective even after normal rinsing or salting during regeneration.
Silver resin does not replace drinking water disinfection as required by law and must therefore not be used for direct drinking water treatment.
