Silver resin is ideal for preventing the colonisation and proliferation of bacteria or microorganisms. Thanks to the silver in the resin, this effect is maintained even after normal backwashing and regeneration.
The silver resin (equivalent to BIORESIN BW 05) is a special resin for water softening systems. It ensures that bacteria or microorganisms cannot colonise the resin bed, even if the system is only passing a small amount of water or is at a standstill. The resin contains firmly bound silver, which exerts a natural antibacterial effect without affecting the taste or smell of the water.
How the silver resin works
Within a water softening system, the resin removes minerals such as calcium and magnesium from the water. If the water does not flow for a prolonged period, bacteria can colonise the system. The silver contained in the resin inhibits the proliferation of these microbes directly within the resin bed. This keeps the resin clean and hygienic without the need for additional chemical disinfection.
The resin is not approved for use with drinking water in the EU (exception: Switzerland).
